Chrisley Knows Best

Everything the Chrisley Family Has Said About Todd and Julie’s Time in Prison

The Chrisley family isn’t shy when it comes to discussing what it’s like to have Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley behind bars.

The former Chrisley Knows Best stars were found guilty of all charges in their fraud trial in June 2022. Todd was convicted of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, bank fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States and tax fraud, whereas Julie was convicted of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, bank fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States, tax fraud and wire fraud.

The couple were sentenced to 12 and seven years in prison respectively in November 2022 and reported to prison in January 2023. Their sentence was later reduced, with Todd set to be released in January 2032, two years before his original 12-year sentence, and Julie’s by 13 months.

The famous family is known for sharing their life onscreen and their kids have kept fans updated on how their parents have adjusted to prison life.

LINDSIE’S CONCERNS

Despite sharing that her father and stepmother are doing well in prison, Lindsie admitted she worried how the other prisoners would react to Todd and Julie’s reality TV careers.

“One of my biggest concerns was the access to televisions, and a question that I asked you [was], ‘Do you think people have seen Chrisley Knows Best that are serving time in these camps?’ ” she said during the April 5 episode of “The Southern Tea” podcast. “And simply the answer, I know the answer now, is yes.”

MAKING FRIENDS
Also during the podcast, Linsdie said that Todd is “in such a better place” and is in great “spirits.”

“He’s made great friends. He talks about his friends there,” she added about her dad.

SAVANNAH’S HOPE

During a February 2023 episode of her “Unlocked” podcast, Savannah opened up about visiting Todd with her grandmother, Nanny Faye.

“I never felt the presence of Jesus more than I have in that visiting room,” she said about the visit. “Even visiting my dad, like, I know I have so much hope and so much restored strength that I’m like, ‘This isn’t the end.’”

The TV personality continued, “And I know that they’re going through what they’re going through for us to make a difference, for us to make a change. Because whether this appeal works or not, they’re still coming out with a story.”

JULIE’S EXPERIENCE

Savannah shared insight into her mother’s prison experience during her “Unlocked” podcast.

“My mom’s in a facility that has no air, but yet, there are service dogs for the prison that are in a heated and cooled building because it’s inhumane for them not to have air,” she explained.

“I read an executive order that [President Joe] Biden signed that said all federal inmates must be housed in environmentally friendly facilities,” Savannah continued. “And I’m like, ‘OK, well, this is completely opposite of that.’”

DIFFICULTIES VISITING JULIE

Lindsie has opened up about her visits to see Todd in prison, though she explained that it has been a more difficult process to see Julie.

“I have not been to Lexington to visit her yet,” she said on the April 12 episode of her “Southern Tea” podcast.

Lindsie told her followers that “there was a different process” she had to go through in order to be approved as a visitor

“I sent in all of my paperwork and have yet to hear back regarding the visiting,” she said. “So, it’s been a little bit frustrating.”

The former reality star added, “The attempts to try to communicate have been a lot different than communicating with my dad.”

While Lindsie hasn’t seen Julie yet, she said that Savannah and Faye told her that the Chrisley matriarch is “doing very well.”
