Savannah Chrisley admits Christmas season has ‘not been the happiest time’ for her – as she marks first holiday without parents Todd and Julie since they were JAILED for fraud
Savannah Chrisley has admitted that this Christmas has ‘not been the happiest of times’ – as she celebrated the festive season without her parents, Todd and Julie, for the first time since they were jailed.
The 26-year-old television personality, who has been vocal about the harsh conditions her mom and dad have been enduring behind bars, took to Instagram on December 24 to stress that it’s ‘okay’ to not be feeling ‘joyous’ during the holiday season.
She has been looking after her siblings since Todd, 54, and Julie, 50, were convicted of tax fraud in November 2022 and sent to prison in January 2023.
Posting to her Instagram story, Savannah said: ‘Merry Christmas Eve guys.
She continued: ‘It’s okay if they suck. It’s okay if you’re not excited about them, and it’s okay if you’re grieving during this time.
‘Do what makes you feel okay. What makes you feel best because I’m with you. I feel you, it’s not the happiest time for me.’
Savannah’s parents Todd and Julie are serving out their time at two separate facilities.
Todd is serving a 12-year sentence and is currently incarcerated in Pensacola, Florida.
Meanwhile, Julie is banged up in Lexington, Kentucky. She is serving seven years.
Besides Savannah, the disgraced duo are also parents to Lindsie, 34, Chase, 27, Grayson, 17, and estranged son Kyle, 32.
Earlier this month, Todd’s family claimed they were fearing for his safety in the wake of his barrage of shocking claims about life behind bars, some of which have been blasted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP)
Todd’s family is now concerned for his safety and well-being after his interview because he is trying to take on Goliath when he knows nothing about how the system really works,’ a source close to the family told DailyMail.com.
‘People get killed for less than what Todd did.’
In June 2022, Todd and Julie were found guilty of committing tax evasion and bank fraud totaling $30 million.
Todd, who is housed at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida, accused guards of ‘starving’ inmates and serving out-of-date food during an interview with NewsNation.
He had claimed that someone sent a photo of him while he was sleeping to Savannah, 26, demanding $2,600 per month for his protection.
He also said he was targeted by the guard for his seemingly privileged lifestyle on the outside world.
On top of this, the father-of-five noted he had not been allowed to verbally communicate with his wife.
He told reporter Brian Entin: ‘It’s devastating.
‘You know she and I email four or five times a day, but they will hold my emails and hold them on her end as well as a way of punishment to us because of what Savannah is doing.’
In November, Todd’s attorney told TMZ he was in a ‘state of distress’ as he prepared to spend the festive season away from his loved ones.
While languishing behind bars, Todd is said to perceive himself as being on a divine mission and has been offering personal guidance to other inmates.
His attorney has revealed Todd is scheduled to be back in court in March, at which point his lawyers will once again attempt to get his conviction overturned.
